"Art and Ruins of the Ancients" Chapter 1

Posted by Carrie Giacolone on

And so it begins...our new blog series. We thought it would be fun to share with you what we see when we venture out into our local region, the Four Corners Area. From where we live, you can virtually head out in any direction and find the amazing, the unique and the historical...enjoy the art and history that nature and time provides. Come along with us ")
Our first Chapter begins in Davis Canyon and Lavender Canyon on the edge of Canyonlands National Park. Prior to yesterday, we have not explored these areas and were in awe of what we saw there. Iconic rock formations, vivid colors and breathtaking views, not to mention evidence from past civilizations.
What we have found so far in our adventures locally is that the different kinds of flora, fauna and landscape that crop up in any direction is similar yet unique. For example, some people may view this landscape as "all the same" but we have found that every place has unique and different features. It's kind of like all of the different things you can make in the kitchen with just eggs, flour and water.
To fully experience what this area has to offer, you need to get off the highway, off paved roads and hike around. The peaceful serenity of these ancient places is something that everyone should experience. Leave the fast-paced vacation behind, even if only for a few minutes.
We will begin by sharing some beautiful photos of nature's artwork.
Some ancient ruins and pictographs that we saw...
And, as we were heading out, there was a gorgeous sunset.

Fun stuff, huh? We are looking forward to sharing more chapters of our adventures with you. Be sure to sign up for our blog posts so you don't miss out. Would you like to see this in person? Come and stay with us at our Airbnb, The Coffee Pot Cottage in Monticello, Utah.
Enjoy ")
