Art Journaling Oct/Nov/Dec 2019
Ted and I collaborated on this mixed-media on metal scallop shell journal and sent it in to Art Journaling magazine. We are delighted that they enjoyed it and decided to include it in the issue. We had so much fun making this and sharing it that we have decided to make and sell metal journal covers in our shop. We can make them in any size, shape or theme and they can be customized by adding a welded-on name or special word. These are something new and different to play with.
Cloth, Paper, Scissors Winter 2018
Here is the article in the Winter 2018 issue of Cloth, Paper, Scissors. This article details our artistic collaboration as a couple in our artistic venture, Gizmachis. What an honor this was for us. Sadly, Cloth, Paper, Scissors is no longer being published. This makes our article the last article, on the last page of the last issue of this magazine.
Cloth, Paper, Scissors Fall 2018
In January 2018, I opened my mailbox to find one of my favorite magazines, Cloth, Paper, Scissors. As I paged through, I ran across the Reader Challenge which called for "A Stitched Collage Cityscape." I always enjoy perusing my art magazines but never seriously considered submitting...until I read this. Something said "just do this." I completed the project and it sat on my table for a few weeks. I kept hearing that critical voice saying "it's not good enough to send in." So, I decided to make one or two more. I made a total of three but the original was the one I ended up sending in. To me, it was really more about just taking the steps to make the submission than anything else. You can imagine my surprise when I opened the Fall 2018 issue to find my little stitched cityscape--on the first page of the reader challenge! I was so tickled and humbled.
Through this interaction with Cloth, Paper, Scissors we were invited to write an Essay about our collaborative efforts with Gizmachis for the Winter 2018 issue. Amazing.
